Dry brushing – The ultimate body care trend

Dry brushing technique for your health and beauty. A 3-minutes-a-day home spa ritual to get fit for Summer 2016. Leggi l’articolo in Italiano sulla mia pagina autore di Glamour Italia.

It’s not the first time an ancient beauty ritual becomes the ultimate trend in the most luxurious Spas. This is the case with dry brushing. Dry body brushing consists of stroking your body from toe to head with brushes made of natural fibers. In all state of the art Spas this beauty ritual is performed to prep the body for a massage. But what I want to focus on is dry body brushing at home. After trying it myself for over a month and personally testing its benefits, I want to share with you my loves the huge potential of this 3-minutes-a-day zero-cost beauty ritual. Consider dry body brushing as part of the soft program to get fit for Summer 2016 I introduced in this post.

The benefits of dry brushing

Dry body brushing holds a seriously huge potential for your beauty and health. Let’s see how. First of all dry brushing is the key to detoxification. As you may know, toxins are eliminated from our body through the lymphatic system. Dry brushing your body from toes to head with vigorous strokes mechanically stimulates blood circulation, helping your blood get rid of toxins through your lymphatic system. We all know that slow circulation and the following ristagno of toxins are responsible for cellulitis and a bad-looking skin. So thumbs up for dry brushing detox power! Talking of cellulitis and bad-looking skin, let’s see how dry brushing fights both of them pitilessly! Vigorous strokes with a coarse brush scioglie gli accumuli adiposi and literally swipe away the toxins that cause them. Regular dry brushing removes dead cells (skin turnover time is 24 hours) and lets your skin breathe. Be aware that dry brushing doesn’t feel like a delicate caress. You must go to it with the intention of stimulating your lymphatic system, removing dead cells, destroying accumuli adiposi, toning your skin. Dry brushing is for tough women who are not intimidated by some harsh strokes and temporary redness, if afterwards you feel invigorated and your skin is soft as a baby’s. Besides its beautifying properties, dry brushing is good for our health: its detox and blood circulation improving action results in a stronger immune system which gets rid of “malware” more quickly, and a rejuvenated nervous system, thanks to the constant stimulation of nervous endings.

Your 3-minutes-a-day dry brushing ritual

What do you need for dry brushing? Two natural fiber brushes like mine (see pictures) and one with a handle to reach all areas of your body (or a caring husband who’s got your back even better). Dry brushing every single day for 3 minutes is the best practice. Doing it 3 times a week is beneficial too.

How to perform your 3-minutes-a-day dry body brushing

Always dry brush your dry and naked body in the morning, to start off the day energised and toned
After dry body brushing it is ideal to take a shower as you will want to wash off the impurities from the skin as a result from the brushing action.
Long sweeping strokes starting from the bottom of your feet upwards, and from the hands towards the shoulders, and on the torso in an upward direction help drain the lymph back to your heart. Use Counter-clockwise circular strokes on your abdomen and only lightly brush the breasts.

My personal experience with dry-brushing

After one month of body brushing every morning my skin feels incredibly smooth and toned. I’m starting to see the first results as far as cellulitis is concerned. I’m looking for an effective anti-cellulitis cream by the way. Anything comes to your mind? I’m evaluating different types of brushes and if I manage to put together a few I will show them to you and suggest which works best. Also, dry brushing experts have developed different types of brushes for different body areas, and special detergents to keep them free. I’m still a dry brushing beginner but I’m totally into it and I would appreciate any kind of feedback on your side. Do you perform dry brushing or know friends who do?

Plenty of people have said that this is their #1 beauty advice that they can give because it draws the blood to areas of your body and it brings the nutrients to the skin even more. Gives a better shine to the skin because of the nutrients and gets rid of dead skin cells.
