I consider NYE to be “amateur night”, so I’m with you on staying home with a bottle of wine. If there’s a good movie marathon, all the better. Usually, midnight is past my bedtime.
BUT, if I were going out, I would be wearing the Time’s Square outfit, with maybe the Party with Friends tiara. Just to mix it up.
