I left my heart in Lampedusa, an island to fall in love with.
Hello my treasures, as you know I have just had a wonderful holiday on the island of Lampedusa, and with melancholy in my heart I’d love to share it with you. Starting from the coves of crystal clear water and white sand, where turtles, which have become a symbol of the island, come to lay their eggs. I indulged in the clear waters while small fishes darted next to me undisturbed, the turquoise sea and blue sky beautifully merging. I felt in total harmony with nature. All in Lampedusa is very distinctive, because the infrastructure for tourism were made in respect of its ecosystem. This gives you the feeling of living the island to the fullest and blending in with its inhabitants, cheerful hearty people. The food is nothing short of delicious, as it happens when tasty recipes meet the excellent Mediterranean ingredients. Generally I am not a big eater . Well, I (devoured) tasted enthusiastically all the typical dishes in Lampedusa. The climate is mild and pleasant at all times of the day. Even when the sun is at its zenith a gentle breeze blows from the sea. The uptown and downtown of Lampedusa consist of Via Roma, the main street where you will find lounge bars, small boutiques, good food, good music, thrift shops. While my little princess was building sand castles or swimming with daddy I indulged in reading. I was enraptured by three novels by Sicilian author Antonio Lo Vasco, treating gently but truthfully the harsh topics of violence against women and crimes of mafia. I do not want to overlook the situation that made Lampedusa famous through the news: the landing of war refugees. Misinformation on the present state of facts wrongly decreased the affluence of tourists. The benevolence and compassion voiced by local people for the tragedies they have witnessed is another sign of how special this small haven really is.
My answer to the question closing my post Fashion bloggers go on vacation too is a resounding Yes. Thanks to a hardly existent Internet connection, I was able to pull the plug completely. Sorry for neglecting you for a good cause! Now I’m all here for you! A heartfelt hug full of positive vibes!
