Easy Contouring for beginners and Beauty Link Up

Hello beauties,  today let’s focus on easy contouring for beginners: the ultimate cheat sheet to quick and easy sculpting.

Contouring, sculpting, or strobing: quick foreword

Contouring , sculpting or strobing is a make-up technique to create areas of light and shade on the uniform make-up base created by foundation. It also allows us to mask common defects such as double chin, prominent nose, pronounced jaw. Essentially contouring gives us a sculpted face to enhance its charm.

The best products for easy contouring

Contouring or sculpting can be achieved using different products: foundations and concealers of different shades, bronzers, highlighters. But as we are tackling easy contouring for beginners, let’s get yourself a proper contouring palette and a kit of brushes for the application of different shades. The palette will consist of one or more light tones (to highlight) and one or more dark tones (for sculpting). The texture of the product must be similar to the texture of your foundation (satin, matte, mineral powder). Here are two excellent contouring palettes I have been using.
Infaillible Sculpt by L’Oréal Paris. The make-up collection Infaillible Sculpt by L’Oréal Paris includes: a light coverage foundation, a contour kit with a creamy texture but matte finish (one dark shade, one fair shade), a translucent pink blush. The collection features also a felt-tip liner and an amazing mascara I’ll review later on. Infaillible Sculpt foundation by L’Oréal Paris is a liquid, lightweight foundation with a satin finish, ideal for creating a uniform make-up base. If you have oily skin you might want to choose Infaillible Matte 24H (read my review here). The contouring palette has a creamy texture with a matte finish: both the fair shade (to highlight), that the dark one (to sculpt), once applied turn into a smooth powder. The matte finish and cool shades of this palette make it ideal for a natural every-day make-up.  The product is not very pigmented, easy to use for beginners. The pink blush nicely compliments your cheeks with a healthy glow.

Laura Mercier Flawless Contouring. A deluxe luscious product perfect for a Spring Summer sunkissed look. Laura Mercier Flawless Contouring palette features two highlight shades with a glaze finish and three contour shades for sculpting. Of the two highlighters, the fairest one must be used to enlighten, the bronze colored one as a creamy bronzer. The three contour shades are meant to sculpt with dark shades of deeper intensity. In spite of their matte finish, their creamy texture gives the skin a glorious glow. The warm hues of this palette can be built up to create a sophisticated high-end make-up. Or, as we are talking of easy contouring for beginners, you can use only the lightest contour shade to sculpt, as shown in the following pictures, for a Spring Summer natural healthy glow.  Laura Mercier Flawless Contouring palette is a luxury product with multiple benefits: the palette packaging  hides small cardboards with easy contouring tips by Laura Mercier. Also, the price is worth the while as the product is very pigmented and will go a long way. You can find Flawless Contouring palette, along with other outstanding products from Laura Mercier, on saccani.com website.

How to sculpt your face in few easy and quick steps

Now let’s go through  a quick ‘n easy contouring guide for beginners. You can get a nicely sculpted face following these few steps:
1. apply foundation for a flawless uniform make-up base
2. apply the fairest shade of your palette along an imaginary line that divides your face in two halves, from forehead to chin. Then draw two triangles pointing downwards below your eyes.
3. apply the chosen contour shade right below your cheekbones and wherever you need some sculpting: in my case, on the nose sides, below my chin and along my jaws.
4. Blend using a sponge or a foundation brush.
5. Now some blush on your cheeks, et voilà!

I hope you enjoyed this quick ‘n easy contouring guide for beginners. Have your say!

Ciao Valeria! Il contouring ormai è una grandissimo moda, a me non fa impazzire, sono molto semplice. Però ammetto che chi sa usarlo bene crea davvero delle ombre che cambiano il viso!
